Castro was a self-taught American jewelry designer living in Istanbul. His extraordinary pieces were produced by hand in Istanbul and Geneva. He was an artist that drew outside the box and broke the rules. With his uncompromising attention to detail and use of fancy color diamonds, unusual gemstones, precious metals and alternative materials he created hauntingly beautiful pieces often referencing nature, the Middle Ages and African culture . His pieces typically combine a sense of whimsy with an edge. His "art of no style" is, in fact, the epitome of style.

Castro passed away in July 2022 at his home in Istanbul.
